What could it cost you to be a Christian . . .

During and after WWI, under Turkey’s Islamic Ottoman Empire, out of an approximate population of two million, some 1.5 million Armenians died. If early 20th century Islam Turkish Ottoman Empire had the apparatuses and technology to execute in mass, as did the 1940s Germany’s gas chambers, it would be quite certain that virtually the entire Armenian population may well have been exterminated. More than a million and a half Armenians perished as the result of execution, starvation, disease, physical abuse, and open exposer to the harsh environment. At the beginning of 1915, there were some two million Armenians within Turkey. Today, there are fewer than 60,000. Despite the vast amount of evidence that points to this horrific historical reality of the Armenian Genocide, e.g.: eyewitness accounts, official archives, photographic evidence, the reports of diplomats, and the testimony of survivors, Turkey even today denies this took place, as described in United States Senate Resolution 359, of 1920. Of this photo, the United States Ambassador Henry Morgenthau, Sr. (1856-1946) to the Ottoman Empire wrote, "Scenes like this were common throughout the Armenian provinces, in the spring and summer months of 1915. Death in its several forms—massacre, starvation, exhaustion—destroyed the larger part of the refugees. The Turkish policy was that of extermination under the guise of deportation."
